Melrose Tracks and Trails – 3 Day Girls’ Weekend
June 16, 2018-10:30 am - June 18, 2018-6:00 pm| $499
How does an amazing 3 day weekend in Melrose sound? At the foot of Mount Remarkable, this quirky little country town is a picturesque secret treasure and we would really love to share it with you on this fun girls’ trip.
With several meals included, this should prove to be a fun but also relaxing girls’ long weekend away, giving you some well-earned time off from the daily grind!
We will be hiking, biking, picnicking, campfires, sleeping in a bunkhouse, having dinner at the coolest pub in town, and all the while fostering some awesome new friendships and having bucket loads of fun and laughs.
Travel up in your own vehicle, maybe having organised a carpool with some of the other girls, (we can help with this too) the fun begins from the start. You can bring your own mountain bike (Conditions Apply*) or we can hire one locally for you.
Our plans include taking in some of the amazing scenery both hiking and biking, and you will also have the option to get a 2 hour class on mountain biking from the pros. Whilst the area is mainly well known for the fabulous mountain bike tracks, we will be taking a road less travelled as well, heading out to the gorgeous Willowie Forest for a fun picnic. This will be a lovely casual cycle, very low speed and plenty of time for stopping, taking pictures and maybe even checking out the wildlife on the way.
We will enjoy the features of the local pub for dinner one evening, which is only minutes walking distance from our accommodation, so you can relax and have a drink without any worry.
The accommodation is fairly basic but comfy, and depending on numbers you may well even get your own room. We have a fire pit and a bbq and expect a yummy hot BBQ breakfast each morning around our own campfire.
We will also spend a morning discovering and exploring the ancient attraction of nearby Alligator Gorge. During this hike we will stop and soak in the unbelievable silence and stunningly rugged beauty while we have morning tea. An absolute breathtaking experience that takes about 2 hours and definitely should not be missed! I believe this bit in itself is worth the entire trip, so even if nothing else grabs you, do make sure you grab a spot on this adventure so you can experience this absolute gem! And to top off this amazing weekend, we will visit the pretty little town of Clare, stopping in at a local winery and maybe even popping in to the Mintaro Maze to lose ourselves in this little adventure one last time before heading home.
*Mountain bikes need to be in good working condition, have gears, good tyres and be road worthy. You will need spare tubes and a pump and be able to change your tyre if required. Probably unnecessary, but it happens. So, if you have an old, rusty one in the shed you haven’t had out for years, it would probably worth just hiring one whilst we are there. Hybrids and other bike types are not recommended due to the nature of the tracks we will be riding on.
You will need to be able to ride a bike well, and have ridden within the last couple of years. Abilty to travel at least 5km comfortably, without stopping. While this is not a difficult event, you must also have a reasonable level of fitness as we travel as a group.
