Girls Weekend Away! Houseboat on the Murray

An amazing girls only journey on the Murray River – captaining our own boat – in charge of our own destinies!

We arrive from 2pm Friday – but don’t worry the boat will not leave dock until Saturday morning. So if you can’t make it until after dark – there will be no issues! Dinner at the pub Friday night (Own expense) We will carpool into the town. We up ropes early on Saturday morning (once we have all our guests onboard and the fun begins straight away because it’s all hands on deck with tying and untying the ropes, girls on look out duty, and of course, the boat driver herself will be reversing that baby outta there!
We will all have the opportunity to drive* The weekend will be spent traversing the Mighty Murray River and stopping at some very beautiful places along the way – and we all get to choose the journey together. With each stop the girls get to pitch in to help moor the boat, this is a challenge in itself for new boat drivers and it’s always a thrill to make the perfect landing! Are you up for it? 🙂 No need to drive if you are unsure, but everyone will need to take turns at doing the ropes.

We can go for walks, bird watch, take beautiful photos of the river, the cliffs and other amazing landscapes. It is so beautiful to see the pelicans bobbing past you and the other birdlife is spectacular. We will have 2 kayaks along so you can paddle the river in pairs when we land.

The sunsets and sunrises are exquisite and there is nothing more peaceful than getting up at dawn and watching the sun rise over the river with a steaming cup of coffee. In the evenings we will set up a campfire, there will be marshmallows, hot chocolate and (BYO) wine. Deep and meaningful chats or rowdy singalongs – depending on the crowd. Whatever the mood, it is always a boatload of fun and such an awesome way to spend the weekend.

On Sunday afternoon we will be back at the start point to drop off anyone who would like to travel back home that night and then we hope to dock nearby for the evening to enjoy a final evening around a campfire. Monday morning sees us up at dawn to get back to Waikerie and into our cars by 9am. Wow what an adventure!
